Greater London Reference MapReference map of Greater London
London is the capital of the United Kingdom, home to over seven million inhabitants, and a busy historical, entertainment, financial, business and transport centre. The city is the seat of government for the UK, home to the Royal family, and is known world wide for its famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, and the Tower of London to name but a few.

The capital has a wealth of history and is a true multicultural melting pot, offering something of interest to every single visitor. Originally settled by the Romans 2000 years ago, London has been invaded by Picts, Angles, Saxons, Vikings and Normans. Ripped apart by civil war, almost burned to the ground during the Great Fire of 1666, once the hub of a world empire, London also endured fifty seven consecutive nights of German bombing during the Blitz of World War II.

Despite it's torrid history, the London of today provides its visitors with a gold mine of activities, sporting venues, top class museums, art galleries, music festivals, fascinating and varied architecture, a vast array of restaurants, pubs and clubs, zoos, aquariums, parks and stately homes. Ride around on a red London bus, a black cab or the underground and take in the sites and sounds of a sprawling modern metropolis.
